WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT?
Wherever possible, SIGRID and her team will bring space ‘down to earth’ – illuminating cosmic discoveries through familiar ideas rooted in daily life. For example, instead of presenting the solar system via the usual CGI sequence of ‘spinning planets’, SIGRID would bring things much closer to home by talking us through a working model made by herself and her students.
There is, however, a special place in this series for CGI – in the form of AVATAR SIGRID. Avatar Sigrid is SIGRID’s alter ego, based on the comic book heroes and fantasy characters
that have always inspired her: Lara Croft, Lightspeed, Storm, Rogue, Dana Scully et al.

WHAT’S THE FORMAT?
Unlike CHARLIE’S ANGELS and its ilk, Sigrid will not be assigned ‘cases’ by a male authority. She will set and solve them herself.
Helping her meet the challenge will be five of the most brilliant STUDENTS at Stanford University who – like the crew of the Enterprise serving their Star Ship commander – will add
their individual skills and distinctive personalities to the mix. Together, all will give the series the energy and propulsion of youth.
Echoing Hollywood conventions, each episode will open with SIGRID briefing a fresh case to her students at Stanford University. Then, in a race against the clock, SIGRID and her
team will seek to solve the case – just in time to present their findings for ‘judgment’ by two very special guests (say, Stephen Hawking with ‘space dust’ expert and Queen guitarist Brian May!).
As the clock ticks, Sigrid will travel to some of the most extremeplaces on Earth to reveal the secrets of Space. On her journey, she will meet top scientists and thinkers from all over
the world. The precision of their ideas, the originality of their theories (including some surprising new discoveries about the origins of life) and – let’s face it – the eccentricity of some of them, will make the series as entertaining as it is informative.
WHAT WILL IT LOOK LIKE?
THE X FILES meets THE FANTASTIC VOYAGE with a hint of MICKEY SPILLANE – but with a ‘right here, right now’ style all of its own. The series will be art directed by iconic photographer Chip Simons. He will use his unique wide-angle, super-saturated style to create a look and feel unlike any other – witty, futuristic widescreen infused with drama and edged with danger. (www.chipsimons.com)
